Baby update
It's been an interesting day!
Once we arrived at the hospital, they took us to triage and ran a bunch of tests. They did confirm that my water broke. Around 8am they said we could leave, go for a walk, get breakfast, etc. since I wasn't in active labor. At this point my contractions were 4-5 minutes a part. They suggested coming back once my contractions were more intense and frequent.
We went to breakfast, most likely Tim and I's last breakfast alone for a while. Then drove back to the hospital, parked our car and walked to College Ave. We shopped around for a while and even decided to see a movie at 12:30pm since things hadn't really progressed much. The movie was terrible, but at least we weren't in the hospital. We both tried taking a quick nap. Who would have thought we'd have a date night while in the middle of labor!
We then went back to the hospital around 2pm and luckily had a wonderful nurse, Tanya, who discussed all of our options with us. If we had been admitted, they would have wanted to give me pitocin in a couple of hours to get things going. Since we didn't want to be induced, we decided to come home.
We got home around 2:30pm and are just trying to lay low until things get more intense. Hopefully, she will come soon!

Almost here
Wow, we have really ignored our family blog. My hope is to do a better job maintaining it moving forward.
As you all know we are patiently waiting for our daughter to arrive. We are now 3 days past her original due date. Luka was born 2 days after his due date, with the help of an acupuncture treatment to get things going. Today at 1pm, I'm going to get a treatment and we will see what happens. Our hope is to avoid being induced, so it can be as natural as possible. We shall see... We cannot wait to meet her!
Luka, who is almost 3 1/2 years old now, seems very excited about the arrival of his baby sister and often likes to give her "squeeze hugs" and "nose kisses." These have both become good night and good bye traditions in our family. His behavior has also been quite challenging and I'm sure its a combination of his age and also the uncertainty of what his life will be like once she arrives. He is going to be such an amazing big brother and I cannot wait to see them together.
We are so grateful for all of the support from all of our friends and family throughout this pregnancy. We couldn't be doing this without you! Here are some recent pics of the family and the baby room.
Will share more news soon. Lots of love.

Luka is 5 months old!
Hi everyone! Sorry we have been so bad about adding to our blog lately. Things have been extremely busy. However, life has been full in so many ways and Luka continues to bring us so much joy. He is 5 months old today and everytime you hold him, you just can't stop kissing his cute cheeks! He has now rolled over from his stomach to his back and is laughing more every day. He even seems to know his name! His last doctor's visit he weighed 18 pounds and is 26 1/2 inches long. Both his height and weight is in the 90th percentile. He still is co-sleeping with us, although has now slept in his crib as long as 1 hr 30 min, which is great. He is still waking up to nurse a couple minutes 3-4 times during the night. We've been exploring introducing rice cereal and/or food and we think we're going to wait until he is at least 6 months. Given his weight, he isn't having a problem getting enough to eat. :-) Fortunately, I have been able to continue to breastfeed and pump at work and that has been going really well. Now that the summer is here, our summer camps are in full swing and going well so far! www.galileo-learning.com We are hoping to get Luka in the pool one of these days. Given how much he likes to splash in the bath, we're thinking he'll love the pool too! How is your summer going so far? Here is some video and pictures we've taken recently.Sunday, April 26, 2009
Luka is 3 months old!

Wow, it's been tough to get out a blog posting.
Luka is now 3 months old and it is so hard to believe. The last couple of months have been great. It's been so nice to have the time to visit with a lot of family who have come to visit. In March and April, Luka got to meet his Grandma Carol and Grandpa Fred (Chicago), cousins Sue, Matt, Sammy and Colette (Los Angeles), Great Grandmother Shirley (Louisiana), and Great Grandmother Evelyn (San Diego). Thank you so much for coming to visit!
We are also feeling a lot more settled in our new home and actually have a housewarming party coming up next weekend.
Luka is soooooo wonderful! He is such a good baby. He's been smiling a bunch and even starting to laugh. His newest thing is holding rattles. :-) He is also fixated on sucking his fingers....I have a feeling he will be a thumb sucker. We started a 2nd series of the infant yoga class on Saturday mornings. His girlfriend, Riley, and mother Nicolette are joining us too. Last week we weighed him on our scale and he was 15 1/2 pounds! He's already growing out of some of his 3-6 month clothes.
My 3 months of maternity leave is officially over today. :-( The time has gone by so quickly. I am looking forward to the work I'll be doing and the people that I get to work with, but it will be hard to be away from Luka for so much time. I will probably be pumping at least 3 times a day too. I am sure we'll both get used to it eventually.
We found a family care center that we loved, but after a trial run this week we are having serious second thoughts. This has been very stressful and we are now on another hunt to find something better.
Tim has been working with Luka for over a month trying to get him to take a bottle. We've tried different bottles, nipples, positions, etc. and nothing really seemed to work. One good thing about the current daycare place is the mother has gotten Luka to take the bottle...so that is great! Tim was able to give him one yesterday too. Phew!
Gotta run to the grocery store......will send pictures later on today.
How has the month of April been for you?
